About
This artwork was painted remembering the dreamlike state of being in love. A loveknot is a braid tied in the hair from pagan traditions. From childhood I recall the poem called the Highwayman “the landlords black eyed daughter, tying a red love knot in her long dark hair” . I was also inspired by Gustav Klimt, with his ladies in blankets, use of pattern and gold to contrast with smooth skin. This is a dreamy painting that hopefully evokes thoughts and emotions in the viewer. The metallic paint and gold leaf catches to light and draws the eye but also its appearance changes depending on the lighting.
